Barossa Valley 050806
Re-visited Barossa Valley with Charlotte, her bf Canuf & Lampee. Went there 4 years ago with my parents, realised nothing's much changed.. Except maybe there's more wineries now? Anyway the experience with Lampee and gang was so much more fun compared to the one I went with my parents.. Hur hur.. not that I dont enjoy my parents' company... its coz the last time we went with a tour group, this time its free & easy with Lampee as the driver... Plus Lam so haps (rite anot Lam..)so of coz much more fun!
Lam borrowed this super mega huge camera from his friend, so he's been taking all sorts of weird.. I mean pretty pictures along the way..

Lam brought us to some beach after Barossa to catch the sunset, the view was spectucular as you can see, but its freezing!
After sunset, we went for dinner at BBQ-city & that's me standing outside the stall... Pouting coz we just had a fatty meal & I feel fat!
One of my favourite photos.. After dinner Lam suggested that we go windy point (Mt Lofty) to check out the view. Using his super high-tech camera we finally managed to figure out how to take a night shot & this is the result! Magnificient view & once again my legs nearly froze...

My 100th Post!
Eeks, its been ages since I last blogged.. Starting to get a lil' tired of this.. Heh, I guess I'm not cut out to be a writer afterall!
2nd semester is turning out to be real killer. On top of having a full on schedule, I've still got tons to readings, homework and assignments to complete. Sounds scary? Yeah, I'm totally freaked out...
I guess its partly my fault that I'm starting to feel like I'm drowning in work. I'm losing the discipline to conscientiously finish my work everynight... I allowed myself to hang out with friends, watch tv and play frisbee. Urgh, not good.. I should really gather myself and concentrate on finishing the final semester of my studies.
I've just been told of my schedule for next year. Seems like my summer holiday in December would be a really short one. According to my co-ordinator, I would have to be back here in January to start on my 7 weeks of community placement. After that its another 6 weeks of intensive lectures/learning sessions. And HOPEFULLY, after that its home sweet home for clinical placement and research. Although I don't really wanna come back here so early and possibly miss celebrating my birthday with my family and friends, I would very much prefer to go back home for good in early May. I guess its a trade off... Oh well... the schedule is not 100% confirmed, so there might be changes made again.. Hmm... keeping my fingers crossed!
Time to something productive... Dinner! ha!

Semester 2
Holidays are officially over and the new school term starts tomorrow. I'm kinda looking forward to it actually, sounds nerdy but yeah.. This holiday isn't like the normal kinda term break experienced back home where holiday means never ending shopping trips, movies, late nights out etc... Before holidays started, many plans were made eg. meeting for mahjong, touring Barossa Valley, but we didnt actually get down to them. Many reasons behind them, shall not go into details.
Managed to do some touring when Charlotte & mum came over though. We went to Hahndorf and Victor Harbour, although I've been to these places before, visiting them with different was a totally different experience.

My New House!
Yay, I've finally moved and settled into my cosy little townhouse! The new place is small compared to my previous apartment but its only meant for 2 persons to live in, and I much prefer the privacy I get, plus the quiet environment.. Very conducive for studies.. Hur hur.. How nerdy can I get...

More comments on Doctors
After reading Lam's not very inspiring post on doctors in Singapore, I wanna add some comments about my encounter with the doctors here as well.
I've been sick for 7 days now, got a very bad sore throat, cough, blocked nose (due to over production of phlegm?) and I think I've just lost my voice... I went to see the doctor yesterday, complaining the above. The doctor's response goes something like this, "6 days of flu isnt very long, flus usually takes 2 weeks to recover, there isnt any secondary bacterial infection, so you don't need antibiotics, just go to the pharmacy and buy flu tablets, you should be fine." She then asked if I could take paracetemol and I said I'll try to avoid taking it and again her response was "paracetemol is a harmless drug, in fact its good to take paracetemol if you're sick"
Imagine the above quotes in a nonchalant manner, how I miss my family doctor back home. If I've gone to see him after 7 days of flu, I'm pretty sure he'll be more sympathetic about it compared to the doctor I've seen here. Sure, they might tell me the same thing, but the same words spoken in a different tone meant a world of difference, don't you think?
Now I understand why doctors & health professionals need to take "communication" lessons, obviously the "communication" lessons here aren't very helpful at all. I promise I'll pay more attention in class next semester during my "communication" lessons. I don't wanna be one of those unsympathetic, unfeeling health workers out there!

BB?
I've been watching Big Brother lately , and there's this episode where housemates go on trial, where housemates are supposed to answer BB's questions truthfully. Anyway, Claire's answering some questions and she said something which got me thinking...
She said she won't do anything in the house that she won't do in the real world, because she'll only do things that she really wants to, and not to prove anything to anyone, or to appear "cool".
That's something I hope I can achieve, do things that I really want, not bothering about what the world thinks of me and not living up to other people's expectations...
That's what I really hate about myself, I care too much!! I need to grow thicker skin... urgh!

Exams are finally O-V-E-R!!
Yay, time for celebrations... Going to Melbourne tmr with mum until Monday, don't know what we're going to do there, shopping I hope!
After that its packing time coz I can move to a smaller house with only 2 persons living in there.

3rd July, going Ballarat for SUG
7th July, back from Ballarat, hopefully I can officially move into my new home

Yay, time for celebrations... Going to Melbourne tmr with mum until Monday, don't know what we're going to do there, shopping I hope!
After that its packing time coz I can move to a smaller house with only 2 persons living in there.

Exams on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday... 3 exams consecutively = STRESS = Binging on Chocolates = Pimple outbreak = Bad mood
Its a vicious cycle... End of exams = No stress = Not binging on Chocolates = No pimples (YAY!) = GOOD mood...

Queen's Bday = Holiday
Yup, its the Queen's Bday today, which means its a public holiday, a holiday that doesnt benefit me... Coz 1. I dont have classes on Mondays 2. Its swotvac week, means break to study for exams 3. The stupid public bus service is so infrequent, and sometimes the bus don't come at all... So... public holiday = stay at home day...
Anyway, its been a pretty exciting weekend for me... Coz...
1. I went shopping on Thursday night and on Friday as well.. Hur hur... There's GSS back home, but there's GAS (Great Adelaide Sale? hur hur) here!! I bought like 2 pairs of working pants, a sling leather bag & a bracelet/bangle thingy...
Leather bag, guess how much?! $5 only lor!
I actually took a picture of the bracelet/bangle thingy, but I accidentally deleted it.. so DAMN... no pic...
2. I spent 1/2 a day baking with Joyce... We made 2 cheesecakes and ~50 truffles.. YUM!
Looks yummilicious!
Oh yah, Lam visited me also... He said my cheesecake was good... RITE LAM...
3. Our team won the Women's league!! Yay... So happy... My first trophy from frisbee... Memorable, no MVP for me this time, but I'm satisfied already.. Its like result slip for all my hard work..

Chai Tow Kuay?
Last Sunday Dawn & Selina whipped up a Chai Tow Kuay buffet, why buffet? Cos there were 9 massive plates of carrot cake, all in different flavours, in a "all-you-can-eat" style. Flavours? Hmmm.. What do I mean? Well, there's white chai tow kuay in belachan, in sambal, in belachan mix with sambal and one that's non-spicy. There's also black chai tow kuay in belachan, sambal, belachan mix sambal and non-spicy... Like wow...
A point to note, those gals made the chai tow kuay from scratch! Starting with radish, rice flour, whatever flour, sugar, pickled radish and blah... Its really impressive.
