Goodbye 2006

As the same ol' saying goes... Times flies... It really does. It is new year's eve once again. This year has been a pretty good one, without any major disasters and with plenty of things to be thankful for. I've been thinking about how the year had gone by and like any other year, there were plenty of ups and downs. But all these ups and downs gave me life perspective about life and made me grow as a person. Just to recap the ups and downs of this year...

Downs:
1. Left SG on Valentines, and my mum was the only person who sent me off because everyone was busy celebrating Vday with their other halves. I spent my Vday with the hot air stewards.

2. Arrived in Adelaide all alone and have to deal with matters that needed to be settled personally.

3. Quarrelled with the SG gals and left an indelible scar on the friendship.

I guess things will never be the same again

4. Got really sick during the winter holidays and spent 2 weeks hibernating at my new home all alone.

5. Failed my "ward allocation" (something like a practical test) - not happy

Ups:
1. Had the experience of travelling interstate to play games, made new friends, strengthened existing friendships and improved my own game play!

I love this line-up... I look like a dwarf with them

The team that played in Sydney!

The League team - btw the womens team came in first!

Thats me - cool huh!

2. Learnt how to bake - damn well!

Oreo cheesecake - just one of the many cakes I can bake =P

3. Mum came to visit me during exam period, helped me to cook and clean the house, then headed to Melbourne for a short shopping trip!

Melbourne - railway station behind me!

4. Found 2 fantastic friends to share the agony of never ending assignments with me!

Best friends - Shan shan & Zhixian

5. Met up with long lost friend, havent seen her since secondary 4!

Havent met both gals since the day we parted NYGH, really enjoyed the reunion..

6. Visited places in S. Australia with my new housemate Charlotte and Lam-pee

At Victor Harbour with Marabelle, Charlotte and mum and me!

At Barossa Valley with Charlotte, her bf, Lampee and me

At Mount Gambier with Charlotte, Joyce, Lampee and me!

Me acting crazy... whats new...

Rainbow taken outside my house...

Looking forward to year 2007 - hope theres really a pot of gold at the end of it!

Cobwebs

Its been eons since I last blogged, I mean a proper blog with proper words. Hur...

I've been back for almost a month now, I should be enjoying my holidays, afterall, there's nothing pressing that I need to do. All I had done since I came back were catching up with people I havent met in a while and hanging out with friends that I've been seeing all year round, and its all good.

I think I'm a workaholic (just like my mum.. sigh), I can't seem to enjoy holidays like others. I find it meaningless to spend my life away without a goal. I find it extremely torturous to wake up everymorning not knowing what I'm going to do for the rest of the day. So yeah, within 2 weeks of my short holiday, I've already found a part time job. Funny thing is, the moment I got the job, I started to dread going to work. I guess its all the ironies of life, people just want to get the things that they can't have.

I also wanna talk my love-hate relationship with "Saturdays". I love Saturdays, its the day when my working friends dont have to work, its also the day I dont have to work. Its rest day! Unfortunately, its also the day my friends spend it with their partners, so my Saturdays are either full on with activities or empty like a white sheet of paper. Okay, I'm being dramatic over here, but remember (refer to the top), I hate to spend my day doing nothing. And so, I hate Saturdays when I've got nothing planned... Good thing is, I can always count on a certain few friends who will make time for me whenever I start whining... Hurhur... thanks dudes...

Okay, next I wanna brag about my new phone. I bought this yesterday using some voucher, so I paid $0 for it!................. TADAH!!!!!

Its Samsung E900, for people who don't know, I have a fettish for Samsung phones. I think they have the coolest gadgets in the market (okay, maybe just behind Apple...) and someday, I'm going to be a Samsung shareholder... HAHAHAHA....

The phone has a 2 megapixel camera, which means I can now take pictures on the go, without having to bring my antique Canon camera out.. Haha! Yay... Maybe I'll uploads pictures from my phone in the next post!

Oh, I bought the red version of the phone, not black as shown. Gao & Lam said it looks like an ang pow, but I dont care, I think its absolutely fabulous!

Initially I wanted to get this phone...

This phone is soooooo TAI-TAI!! And it has functions like bio-rythm counter that can help count a girl's period... hurhur... so cool! But, its not available at any of the service providers, and my voucher can't wait... so... But E900 is damn cool as well... I love my new phone!

Okay, enough of blabbering now, time for my Sunday afternoon nap... zzzzzzz

......

Donkey? Horse?

Riding on a donkey, waiting for the horse. Unethical, unfair, un... whatever... it sure beats walking alone, waiting for the horse.

At least the donkey keeps you company and makes the journey less lonely.

I don't like what you do, but I would have done the same if I was you.

My latest obsession

Australian Idol 2006....

Yes... Just like ah hu when she was mad about Jonathan Leong, this guy is driving me insane...

Presenting...........Dean Geyer!!

Don't be deceived by his gorgeous good looks, this guy can sing, and much better than Jonathan Leong for sure!!!

Check out his video HERE

They say that his charm and looks can make women ovulate, so girls, don't say I didn't warn you!

And of coz, there's this girl who sings like Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, simply, just any diva you can think of...

Jessica Mauboy!

Can you believe she's only 17?? Watching these Aussies sing just amazes me, the talent, the voice, the charming good lucks, the natural air they have on stage. So unlike our own idol, its no wonder that they say Singapore Idol is not going to continue...

Its a pity these aussie voices are not heard overseas! Seriously... Check them out, you won't regret it.

Korean Restaurant

Last weekend was awesome! Its my big weekend before I start to bury myself in books in preparation for the exams. I celebrated my coursemates' birthdays at this newly opened korean restaurant called "Han Kok Kwan" like DUH... Although it has a funny name, their food was AWESOME. Like AWESOME, its the best korean food I ever had... YUM!

Btw, I think Shanshan looks like the Hebe gal from S.H.E, right???

Suit UP!

Lam said the few weeks here havent been boring as I've described in my previous entry. Yes, and I remembered! Under the influence of "How I met your mother", we decided to SUIT-UP! and go for a good japanese meal! Its at this famous jap restaurant called Matsuri, and I have to agree the food was damn good!

Char & I posing for the camera

Us, suited-up, on the couch!

The night ended with me breaking the bottle of Midori that Lam bought, but we still made punch using the remains. It was the worst alcohol I had, Midori tastes weird with lemonade... I swear...

Short post

Its been eons since I last had a proper entry, I can see cobwebs forming at the corners of this webpage. No pictures for this entry because I havent been out at all, no pictures to show. Sigh, I know I'm boring, but I'll be HAPS after exams... I know it!

Anyway, I need to lament about my boring life. This year really flew by real quick, mainly because I'm buried under tons and tons of assignments. Sometimes it can be a real dread and I just wish the assignments can just miraculously write themselves, but of coz, it doesnt work that way. Most of the time, I feel so fortunate that I am given this opportunity to change my career path, to do something that I actually enjoy. I hope that at the end of this course I'll get offered a scholarship to do PhD or something, or offered a dream job that'll make my life more interesting! Heh, all the big dreams... Oh well, doesnt hurt to dream does it?

Can't wait for the semester to end, then I'll have a long break, catch up with all my peeps back in Singapore and the weather in sunny Singapore!!!

Brains?

You Are 65% Left Brained, 35% Right Brained

The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.
If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.
Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.
Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.
If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.
Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

End of Mid sem break

2 weeks of holidays are over. Sigh. Didn't accomplish much at all during these 2 weeks.

I spent the whole of last week playing frisbee at the uni games. We came in 2nd last by the way... I think we played 10 matches in 5 days, with only one sub, some games with none. I'm almost dead by the end of the week.. Urgh... Okay, I really shouldn't bore everyone with frisbee...

Went to Hahndorf with Charlotte & Lampee on Saturday for a German feast & some strawberry picking! It was the first day of the season for strawberry picking!

Char & I picking strawberries

It was supposed to be a strawberry teardrop...

My arm looks weird

Mid sem break

Wow, one week of the holidays just went by like that. Feels like I've not done much work.. there's still a pile of homework waiting for me to plough thru'... YAWNZ

But this week had been an exciting one! I was on observation placement for a week at a mental hospital (I observed a dietitian work.. not let them observe me!!) and the people I met were really weird. I saw patients with schzophrenia, dementia, anorexia, depression and the list goes on... Its really depressing to these patients, especially the elderly who requires 100% assistance in everyday life... Sigh

Okay... talk about something happy... I went out for drinks with some friends last night & I went to Crazy Horse for the first time here! I was with Lam & he was traumatised by the ladies at Crazy Horse... Ha... Apparently he's traumatised coz he saw too many boobies & bejingles (for those who don't watch scrubs, it means v*gina). Haha... I didnt know too many boobies & bejingles can scare guys! I always thought the more the merrier... Hur.. apparently I was wrong!

Anyway after drinks I went to Lam's place & got to talk to Gao via webcam!! So exciting!! (Never use webcam before mahhhhhh)These are some of the pictures he took:

Gao's mouse cursor looks like a big black mole on my nose...

Yes.. .I always pose for pictures! =P

Listening to Jay Chou's latest album... the chinese songs make me miss home!!!
