always be my baby

i've been listening to this song every morning as i travel to work. thought the tune was really catchy and the voice is so soothing! found out from my colleague that this is a re-make of mariah carey's old song that is released back in the 1996. the singer is the winner of the latest american idol - david cook

Lyrics:
We were as one babe
For a moment in time
And it seemed everlasting
That you would always be mine

Now you want to be free
So I'm letting you fly
Cause I know in my heart babe
Our love will never die
No!

You'll always be a part of me
I'm a part of you indefinitely
Girl don't you know you can't escape me
Ooh darling cause you'll always be my baby
And we'll linger on
Time can't erase a feeling this strong
No way you're never gonna shake me
Ooh darling cause you'll always be my baby

I ain't gonna cry no
And I won't beg you to stay
If you're determined to leave girl
I will not stand in your way
But inevitably you'll be back again
Cause ya know in your heart babe
Our love will never end no

You'll always be a part of me
I'm part of you indefinitely
Girl don't you know you can't escape me
Ooh darling cause you'll always be my baby
And we'll linger on
Time can't erase a feeling this strong
No way you're never gonna shake me
Ooh darling cause you'll always be my baby

I know that you'll be back girl
When your days and your nights get a little bit colder oooohhh
I know that, you'll be right back, babe
Ooooh! baby believe me it's only a matter of time

You'll always be apart of me
I'm part of you indefinitely
Girl don't you know you can't escape me
Ooh darling cause you'll always be my baby
And we'll linger on
Time can't erase a feeling this strong
No way you're never gonna shake me
Ooh darling cause you'll always be my my baby....

You'll always be apart of me (you will always be)
I'm part of you indefinitely
Girl don't you know you can't escape me
Ooh darling cause you'll always be my baby
And we'll linger on (we will linger on....)
Time can't erase a feeling this strong
No way you're never gonna shake me
Ooh darling cause you'll always be my baby

Always be my baby

taste buds... spoil

My taste sensation is altered ever since my bronchitic episode. I think the meds that I took left a damaging effect on them... my tongue has got this constant astringent (not sure if its the right use of the word) feel.. the siap siap feeling when you drink tea?

its uncomfortable. everything neither taste real good or real bad... (which can be a good or a bad thing... hmmm...) i think the 2 kilos that i lost during my bronchitic episode is now all... regained...

*gulp*

weekend getaway

Its been another busy weekend... and its good I'm not complaining!!

Went Walas with Char, xuanz & kk... Was a lil' disappointing because the usual band EIC wasn't playing that night. I like them because they always sing Maroon 5 songs... haha... plus they are really entertaining. The band that was playing that night wasn't anywhere as good as them...

Char & I... me looking visibly shocked by the flash!

Went Sentosa for some girly chill out fun with Char, Marabelle & 2 of her friends. Got a decent tanning session and its been a while since I chilled by the beach... so its pretty good fun!

Char & I chilling at some shaded place before hitting the sand!

Marabelle & I looking cool in our shades?

More pictures to come once I get my paws on them!

Sunday was another get-together session at my humble abode with my dad whipping up some yummy dishes for EJ, Char (again!) & Marabelle (again!)... haha... I never get enough of them :)

Went for coffee at P&P after lunch... they make pretty good coffee (decor)... A bit disappointed that they changed chef though. Their food doesn't taste as good now...

Design #1

I realised cannot see any design... haha.. the cup is pretty... :P

Quite happy with the weekend, can't wait for the next! Marabelle is dying to dance... Butter next weekend!!! woot!

you've got to watch this!

A last lecture by Dr Randy Pausch... The talk of life and how to live...

Lessons learnt:

- Anything is possible... and we should never lose that dream.
- Experience is what you get, when you don't get what you want.
- Brick walls are there for a reason: they let us prove how badly we want things.
- Have fun all your life!
- Humility
- People vs. things.
- Tigger vs. Eeyore!
- Apologise - 1. I'm sorry 2. It's my fault 3. How can I make it right?
- No one is pure evil, patience allows you to see the good side of others :)
- Show gratitude
- Live properly and dreams will come to you

Month of June

This month has been a really bad month... Like really...

This month alone I chalked up 4 days of MC... Last week I was down with URTI... less than one week later it developed a secondary infection and became bronchitis... I coughed so much that my abs hurt, and I think I pulled one muscle on my side just by coughing too much... Oh yah, the latest update is that I cough so hard that I feel like vomiting after... its scary...

Life at home hasn't been the best either. Shall not elaborate much, just that its never easy trying to handle our parents' issues...

Work... its been pretty smooth sailing until recently. My mentor went overseas for business trip, and last minute I've been told that I have to deliver a presentation to the big shots, with my boss around. Urgh, I'm not past my probation yet! The stress of being assessed and talking to the biggies is going to scare the sh*t out of me... sighz...

Sometimes I think life is in the dumps... k said its all about perception. Its how we perceive the problem. We can either magnify it, let it engulf us or I can look at it from another angle. k also said time will heal the wounds. cliche... but true.

I think sometimes we get too focussed on our own problems that we forget that the big guy up there is in control. Trust in Him to give us the strength to overcome all these!

Dear Lord, you're the mighty God that sent your son to suffer for our sins, and also to let us know that we are not alone when things bring us pain. Lord, I thank you for blessing me with parents who love me, a wonderful brother who supports me wholeheartedly and great friends who stick by me thru' thick and thin. Lord, you know what I'm going through and what is on my mind. Lord I pray that you will resolve the issue at home and heal all wounds so that the house becomes a home. Lord I pray that you will bless me with the wisdom and courage to say the right things at the right time at work, to stand up for what I believe in science. Lord I pray that you bless me with good health, that you will take away my cough. Most of all Lord, I pray that you will bless all my loved ones and friends endless happiness, and that they will be safe and healthy always. For those who are traveling overseas, Lord I pray that you will watch over their journeys, that you will keep them safe from harm, and also that the trip will help them to de-stress from their daily routines, that they will be refreshed again! Lord I commit my life in your hands. Amen.

Kungfu Lam

Caught the movie Kungfu Panda on Saturday with Char & Neil. The movie was quite cool! Unfortunately Char & I both fell asleep during the show. I fell asleep halfway and woke up to watch the ending while Char fell asleep at the end and missed the ending... Only Neil managed to stay awake despite having played frisbee the entire day!

But... its not that the movie wasn't good... its just us... too tired from dunno what that we can't keep our heavy eyelids open for the entire movie! Kungfu Panda is a good show... We just didn't do it any justice :P

The panda was so cute and cuddly.. so un-warrior-like...haha

Char & I both agreed that the panda reminded us of Lam! the boing-boing-ness, the awesome-ness and the legendary-ness... haha... Lam looks & behaves... just like Panda!

Apologies for the lousy photo-shop skills!

My love, my soul

Yes, its my Samsung Soul.

Oh man... Its freaking beautiful... sleek... and cool...

I don't care about iPhones or what not...

I love my Samsung... I swear I'm going to be their shareholder one day!

Not big enough...

A parent’s love never ends

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails" (1 Corinthians 13 vv.4-8).

The past 2 days that I've been sick, I feel like I'm treated like a baby again.

Dad & mum are both fussing over me, constantly asking me if I was hungry, if I was feeling okay, if I was sleepy blah blah blah...

Thanks to the Daily Bread , I am reminded that a parent's love never ends.

I feel loved.

Dad & mum, I love you too :)

Let's all show some appreciation to our parents :)

The J-shape curve

I'm sick again. URTI (upper respiratory tract infection) again...

They tell me that exercise follows a J-shaped curve...

Moderate amounts of exercise results in higher level of immune function, but excessive exercise leads to immune suppression and lowers immune function... leading to increased risk of infections such as urti.

For those who are interested, please read on...

Exercise results in the formation of ROS (reactive oxygen species) which increases the oxidative stress of our bodies. excessive exercise exposes our body to these ROS which injures our cells and increases levels of cytokines... leading to poor immune function.

I think that's what I'm suffering from now. Poor immune function... That explains why I'm always sick. I should exercise less? But then I'll put on weight leh... HOW?

Dilemma...

I'll be spending another day sleeping at home tmr... 2 days of MC. I hope my immune function goes back to normal :P

Weekend!

Its been a packed weekend... lots of activities... tiring but worth it.. heh heh

The weekend started off on Friday night - KTV with Dean and colleagues.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, dinner with Dean & colleagues was cancelled and I ended up meeting Char & Neil for dinner at PGP. They were there to try out the popular Astons. It looked pretty good I must say (I didn't try it cos I'm supposed to try it with Dean & Karen on wed). I had some Beijing jiao zi thing from one of the stalls. DO NOT TRY IT... it sucks...

That was dinner #1. Met Tim for dinner #2 at Maxwell market. We had the Hakka abascus dish & it was yum! We also had German sausage at the hawker centre... Value for money and the sauerkraut was actually quite decent! Not too sour like most cheap coffeeshop western food stalls...

Then... Headed to meet Dean at Oriental Plaza for KTV with her colleagues. It was some ktv contest thingy within her department. I thought its quite funny... Check out her blog for the videos of the singing! I sang 2 songs!! Most importantly... it was free! haha... her colleague treated everyone!

The geeky me!

Met Tim after ktv for some cheap beers at bukit timah market... the 2 of us finished 1.5 litres of beer... Actually... He drank most of it.. haha.. I think I only drank like 500ml at most... :P

Saturday!

Met mum for brunch. Mum brought me to this Thai restaurant place near her office at Alexandra. The food is pretty good actually! They actually serve mango sticky rice! I thought thats a pretty rare find in Singapore... Or maybe I suaku... :P

After lunch, Mum and I went shopping at Robinsons. I offered to buy stuff for her using the Robinsons voucher and she got so excited... Haha... Robinsons IS the shopping place for aunties... I swear... Mum ended up buying stuff like thermos flask, lock & lock containers & the like... hmmm...

Then I met Nick for service at SJSM and then we went to Tim's house for tennis!! Wasn't the best day to play tennis cos' it has been raining the entire day and the courts were soaking wet. The boys tried v hard to dry the courts using the rollars... while I.... tried v hard to help them by keeping out of their way.. :P Tennis left us feeling ultra famished... then we went to the coffee shop near SJSM for some heartland steak! I think its really a "gem" hidden within coffeeshops... They serve steak on those hot plates.. so when the steak came to us.. it was sizzling! PLUS! Its cheap... its only like $11 per serve. I think the shop is called beef house or something like that... Oh oh and I had to add... The coffeeshop sells a bottle of Erdinger for $5.60 only!

After dinner we headed to Double O for some clubbing action with a few of Tim's friends. It was retro/pop night on Sat and it was actually quite fun having 2 true blue mambo kings amidst us... One of them knew all the moves to the mambo songs! Very amusing especially when the boys are half drunk! haha... We partied till like 2am before we decided to call it a night... I must admit that I'm old liao... party for one night and I feel like my bones are falling apart and I'm like ultra sleepy on a Sunday night at... 8pm... urghhhh

Sunday!

Wanted to go sun-tanning to even out my skin tone. Got funny tan marks after my frisbee games and it looks awful! My arms are black while my neck and belly are white... bad contrast!! The weather hasn't been the best recently... Sunny for a bit then cloudy for a long bit... I think I only managed to catch 15 mins of sun?! horrible... guess I gotta wait for another week before I can attempt to tan it even...

Caught the Kite Runner on DVD the same afternoon. Its a really good show... To those who are still contemplating watching it... GO AND CATCH IT... its really a magnificent film!

"The Kite Runner tells the story of Amir, a boy from the Wazir Akbar Khan district of Kabul, who is haunted by the guilt of betraying his childhood friend Hassan, the son of his father's Hazara servant. The story is set against a backdrop of tumultuous events, from the fall of the monarchy in Afghanistan through the Soviet invasion, the mass exodus of refugees to Pakistan and the United States, and the rise of the Taliban regime."

The movie was so touching I cried buckets... Really opened my eyes to the sufferings of war, especially in the middle eastern countries...

I think I'm going to end my Sunday night sleeping early, to make up for the lack of sleep on Saturday night... haha... gd nite!!
