I think I'm gonna be a very good cook when I go back home. Ever since I came here, I've been picking up cooking skills along the way, learning new recipes and trying new things. Before this I only knew how to cook maggi mee and fry an egg... NOW... I can do wonders... HAHAHAHA...
Look at my gourmet meal... YUM... Its baked salmon with home-made chips and chinese stir-fry veg... Healthy & YUM...
Previously I can only bake stuff using "mixes", NOW, I bake stuff starting from scratch... I'm so proud of myself!

X Men 3
So cool... I love X-Men, never read the comic before, but the series of movies totally got me hooked. Went for the midnight movie premier with Lam last night, it was cool. Apparently we're the first to watch this movie in Adelaide cos its mid night premier, its the earliest show in town. Woohoo! haha.. Cheap thrill...
I think the characters in X men are really cool, love their superpower, I want superpower too!!! If I can be like one of them, I think I would wanna be Storm, its amazing how she can control weather, creating rain for a moment and sunny the next. Its like defying the laws of nature, I like... Jean Grey's pretty cool too, everything's in her head, she uses the power of the mind to get stuff to work. Cool... if you could be like one of them, which one do you wanna be?
Anyway, I was a lil disappointed with the movie. First, its really short, like 104 minutes only, its not enough to satisfy X men fans like me. Secondly, the plot's pretty predictable, its not too difficult to guess what's gonna happen next. Doesnt give me the excitement the previous ones did. Lastly, it sort of marks the end of the movie series, is there still gonna be X men 4??
I'm praying that there's gonna be X men 4, if there is, I'll definately watch it
So Cool...

My Nerdy Weekend
I mean... What's new... everytime someone asks what I'm doing/gonna do this weekend, the answer will be the same... Study lor.. What else?
Surprisingly I did something exciting this week! Haha... Thursday night is Ladies night at Shenainigans (Not sure if the spelling's right), and my 2 of my ever-so-happening housemates decided to go party. Normally I wouldnt join them cos they'll usually be with their boyfriends or go with their own friends. This time, they asked my other 2 housemates to go, so all of them were all psyched up & dressed up to the nines. They asked me along as well, but me being the nerd rejected their kind offer. Here's how the conversation went:
Sarah: Liyan, we're going to Shenainigans tonight, its ladies night, do you wanna come along?
Me: Oh, all of you are going? I can't... I can't finish my work..
Sarah: (Looking bewildered) SO???
Me: Er, I really wanna go, BUT... I've got 9am class tmr and...
Sarah: Ash's got class at 9 tmr, Am's got WORK at 9 am tmr..
Me: Erm, nah... just go, don't tempt me!
Sarah: Alright, last offer, you coming?
Me: Nah...
They must be thinking I'm such a nerdy & goody-2-shoes... Oh well, after they left I couldnt concentrate on my work either, I felt like the house was too quiet & my mind kept drifting away, imagining the fun the gals are having. And then, I got dressed and got Joyce to send me down to join them. Ha! So impromptu right! (Yah right.. I brooded over it for 20 minutes before I decided to go...)
Anyway some pics we took at the club:
Us gals with an idiot sticking his head behind us
Myself & Lynley, the lucky gal who's getting married!
Pretty Sarah & me!
I'm going to Victor Harbour for some frisbee fun this weekend, some mini social tournament against the other teams in Adelaide. So looking forward to it!
Btw, I made it to the team for Southern Uni Games.. Yeah!

Its been a while...
Its been almost a week since I last blogged. Wow, time passes soooo quickly, it seemed to just slip thru my hand..
Just came back from a jog, feeling refreshed, time to pen down some thoughts...
I feel like I'm in a middle of a marathon, you know, right in the middle when you feel like you've ran a long way, but you know there's more to go.. On top of that, I feel like I'm running out of gas, tired, panting, just barely moving the heavy things called legs... and in this race, I'm kinda ahead of most. BUT, I'm running out of gas... I'm feeling exhausted from the never ending pile of work I have to complete... Sigh.. Someone FIRE me up!!!
Anyway, enough of me being nerdy & talking about school work over & over again... I went to watch Westside Story, the musical on Tuesday night. Really very disappointed with the quality of the musical, the singing was bad (maybe with the exception of a few), many of them sang out of tune, and there were also a couple of notes which the singers obviously couldnt reach, made the songs sound... awful... The choreography of the dance was not very impressive, the dancers were'nt dancing in uniform, the props looked shoddy and the theatre stage looked too small to contain all the props & singers. So, that pretty much summed up the musical. I know I'm being kinda critical here, but I paid 20 bucks for it! I expect some form of entertainment from it! I would have walked out of the theatre & gone home if not for all my friends who were still watching the musical with me.
Oh well, hopefully Friday would be a better day. I'm gonna meet Valda (Yes, Valda from Henry Park!) tomorrow for dinner with her friends. I bumped into Valda last Friday on Rundle Mall, I just couldnt believe my eyes... Ha.. I was walking along the street and I spotted a familiar face, and I was like thinking... Hmm... This girl looks like Valda... Then the next moment, that girl stared back at me & I saw this look of recognition... It IS Valda! Haha.. such a small world, and the weirdest place to bump into people! In tiny city Adelaide! haha... I'm quite excited to meet her on Friday, loads of stuff to catch up on!
I guess thats all for now, sorry no pics for all my religious readers out there. I promise, next time there will be! Till then, ja ne!

Random Stuff
I really should be working on one of my 6 assignments that are due this week, but I just can't find the motivation. The trip to Sydney totally took away my rhythm, I feel so out of sync with the things around me now... Oh well... since I can't get down to doing work, I might as well blog rite? Hur hur...
Nothing much to update actually, afterall I havent been out much this week. The only time I was out was Friday, to the central market doing my weekly grocery shopping. Oh, and meeting up with Lam for dinner. He brought me to this place near his college to try this thing called "AB", which apparently means "abortion". Interesting huh... According to Lam, the people who used to reside in his college decades ago were all medical students, so the restaurants/cafes near his college came up with this AB dish, which resembles the sight of... well.. aborted fetus... its basically fries with yiros on top of it, and with heaps of sauces... BBQ, tomato & chilli... so... imagine the sight...
I remember when I was back in Singapore, one of my friend kept telling me that I should go re-bond my hair cos my hair was dry & messy looking. I told her when I was in Aussie land, my hair's straight & limp... so I really don't see a point in re-bonding. She didnt quite believe me, saying that the air in Aussie land is so dry, how can my hair be "nicer" here? Well, to prove my point, here are some pictures of my hair when I'm in Aussie land.
My hair is flat & limp rite?!?!
And this is how my hair looks in SGP
Okay, maybe this picture isnt very telling of my hair condition back in SGP, but my hair was indeed in such a mess that I had it tied up most of the time, and that's the only picture I can find with my hair down back in SGP. So, point proven...
An out of point update: my housemate is getting married! They're such a loving couple! This is the season of marriage here I tell you... Besides my housemate, I heard a couple of my classmates are getting married too! Congrats to them!
The golden couple
I want a fish in my pond too!
